Update of the National Action Plans
The first set of National Action Plans (called Roadmaps by then) has been elaborated in line with the ministerial conclusions of 3rd December 2014 by which the Fairway Rehabilitation and Maintenance Master Plan was endorsed.

In regular updates the status of critical locations, hydrological conditions, rehabilitation and maintenance activities and cost of the last year are reported in a harmonized way for the whole Danube...

4th annual forum: Innovative approaches
On 29th and 30th of october the 4th annual forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region was held in Ulm (Germany). The workshop of PA1a focused on “Innovative approaches on the Danube and its navigable tributaries.”

Discussions concentrated on the "Fairway Rehabilitation and Maintenance Master Plan" and the activities in connection with Administrative Processes...

Manual on border controls along the Danube available
The compact and easy to read manual informs captains and ship crews on the border controls at all EU and Schengen borders along the Danube. It gives an overview on the steps to be followed and the forms to be filled and includes the locations, contact details and opening hours of control points.

Besides providing valuable information the manual will serve as a basis for discussion between control authorities and is considered as a step towards harmonised and efficient control procedures...

How can border controls be organised more efficiently?

A sincere thank you to all the 177 respondents who answered this question by filling out our questionnaire on border controls!

Control processes at 19 different border control points along the Danube have been evaluated. The vast majority of feedback forms referred to controls conducted by Romanian authorities, but the most meaningful feedback was received for Mohács, where the number of forms and the language variety was the highest...
