The 3nd session of the Working Groups for Priority Area 1a - To improve mobility and multimodality: Inland waterways - of the EU Danube Region Strategy (EUSDR) will take place in Belgrade (Serbia) on Wednesday, the 7th of November 2012.

The 3rd Working Groups session will mainly focus on the following topics:
Waterway infrastructure: State of play of infrastructure projects & integrative implementation
Waterway maintenance: Short-term improvements & needs of the industry (based on the signed Ministerial Declaration of June 2012)
Fleet & ports: Discussion about dedicated modernisation programmes & presentation of study "Innovative Danube Vessel"
River Information Services (RIS) & Education and Jobs: State of play of implementation of harmonized RIS and recent developments regarding the Modernisation of requirements for professional qualification
Administrative challenges: Discussion on facilitated administrative procedures for inland navigation companies
In the evening of November 7th, a common networking dinner will be organised starting at 19:00 hrs (also including participants of the Steering Group of PA 1a).
Background: Thematic Working Groups were established by the Priority Coordinators together with the Steering Group of EUSDR's Priority Area 1a in order to coordinate and discuss existing and proposed projects and initiatives which are in line with the objectives set for the Priority Area on inland waterways of the Strategy. Working Groups will get together twice a year and specifically invite the involvement of the private sector, experts and NGOs.
